Marvel Zombies Take Over – Panel of the Day
Sept 23rd 2025
Marvel Zombies devours Disney+ this week, but the story began in the comics back in 2005.
In Ultimate Fantastic Four #21–22, Reed Richards peers into another dimension — only to discover zombie versions of Marvel’s greatest heroes. That shocking reveal cracked open the Marvel Zombieverse and paved the way for one of Marvel’s most infamous spin-offs.
Soon after, Marvel Zombies #1 launched, written by Robert Kirkman (The Walking Dead) with art by *Sean Phillips. Fans were stunned to see Spider-Man joking while craving flesh and Captain America fighting with half his skull exposed.
What really cemented the series, though, were Arthur Suydam’s iconic homage covers — zombified takes on classics like Amazing Fantasy #15, Secret Wars #8, and Avengers #4. These gruesome tributes are still some of the most collected modern covers in comics.
