Review: Demon Slayer – Infinity Castle
Following the climactic events of the previous season, Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle wastes no time establishing its scale and intensity. The opening sequences deliver immediate impact—fast-paced action, striking visuals, and a palpable sense of danger that makes it clear the stakes are higher than ever.
As expected from the franchise, the technical craft is exceptional. The animation is fluid and cinematic, with dynamic fight choreography that showcases Ufotable’s trademark polish. The score heightens the urgency of the battles and provides emotional weight, elevating the spectacle beyond standard shōnen fare.
The narrative, however, falters in the latter portion. The third act slows considerably as the story detours into extended demon backstories. While these interludes attempt to humanize the antagonists, they disrupt the established momentum and dilute the tension. Furthermore, several key characters are relegated to little more than cameos, a disappointment for fans hoping for broader ensemble development.
It is also worth noting that this release is less a traditional feature film than a compilation of episodes designed to launch the upcoming season. Viewed through that lens, the structural unevenness becomes more understandable, though it may leave casual viewers unsatisfied.
Still, the theatrical experience itself proved memorable. The energy of a packed house responding to the spectacle reinforced the cultural impact Demon Slayer continues to command.
Verdict: ★★★¾
Visually dazzling and often thrilling, Infinity Castle reaffirms Demon Slayer’s place at the forefront of modern anime, even if its storytelling ambitions occasionally undermine its momentum.
